Hello guys,

After a gruesome preparation of our documents, i finally sent my outland conjugal application to sponsor my transgender partner from the Philippines. I sent it via private courier last April 12, 2016 but up to now i have not received any notification from CIC that they received it.

What took them so long to respond?

Is it true that once CIC received the conjugal application they have 2 months to review if im eligible to sponsor?

As i understand, once im eligible, they will send the documents to the Philippines where my partner lives to continue the rest of the process. Is that right?

Im getting worried. Please advice me anything or share your experience. Thanks.

CIC doesn't send notifications when applications are received. It's quite possible you may not hear from CIC until you are approved as a sponsor. This process is taking around 2 months to complete. Once sponsor approval is received, the file will be transferred to Manila for the remaining processing steps.

Thanks but should i start counting 2 months from the day i sent my application? I sent it last April 12, 2016.

If that so, if i have not received any notification from CIC after June 12, 2016 then what should i do? Or should i be worried then? Or just wait until they notify me?

I would assume that if there is any problem with my application they will contact me.

It's approximately 2 months (not exact) from when CIC receives it. I assume you used tracking service with your courier so you should know the exact date/time it was delivered and signed for.

Im currently in Ottawa, i sent my application via private courier, i would assume it will normally take 2-3 days. What i am concern is, What should i do if they dont notify me after 2 months? I would imagine they NEED TO notify me to let me know that im qualified to be a sponsor OR NOT but what if they dont? Whats next?

Is there anyway i can check our application online?

Is there anyway i can interact with people who also submitted application on April 12, 2016?

Ive heard about the spreadsheet what is this all about?

Any input, suggestion, comments, real life experience you would like to share are most welcome.

You saw when your app arrived at CIC, via courier tracking, correct? That's the start of the timer.

You won't hear anything for at least a month, then you will most likely get acknowledgement of receipt (aka "AOR"). I say "most likely" because some people never get AOR.

After AOR, you should then be able to track your app online using ECAS. Though this is not always the case either.

The next step is sponsor approval (aka SA). That will be another month from AOR.

Then you have a very long wait. Since you have a conjugal app in process, it could possibly take longer than the "norm" for Manila.

The only way to guesstimate how long it will take in total is to look at old spreadsheets. If you check my signature you can look at some 2015 processing times. There might be a conjugal app for Manila on there. Even better is to look at the Manila thread for anyone with a conjugal app.

How to access ecas?

I submitted in the same category - sent the papers and arrived at 18th of April this year in CPC-M.
May 6, I received my AOR and FILE# (thru email) for my sponsorship and PR Processing for my partner so I could track the process online.
You should have yours already.

Aquakitty has answered most of your questions. Anyway, to give you a rough estimate, conjugal partnership applications are quite rare in the Philippines. I've only encountered 2 cases like yours. The first one, a lesbian couple got their pr in 10 months. But that's because they've been together for 9 years and had so much proof of relationship given that they've been together for almost a decade. The second one is a gay couple who have yet to receive their ppr. They sent in their application in Nov 2014 and just received a remedical request a week ago. It's been 17 months and they're still waiting. The processing time I guess will depend on the amount of evidence you provided.
