Hi guys,

I'm single and my girlfriend is going to sponsor me as a Common Law partner. When filling the forms I have been putting myself as single, however it's a little confusing since If I'm applying under the common law does that mean I have a common law spouse?

I'm from a place that does not recognize common law.

Thanks!!

dO YOU THINK ITS A PROBlem having it as Single,...I really do not feel like re doing all my forms all over again. So much work...

Sure, how do you claim to be a common/law couple if you are claiming in your application to CHC that you are single? Think it through.

I know that this seems like a stupid question, however where I'm from there is no such thing as Common Law. I guess I will do the forms over again, however I thought it was up to CIC to determine if we are common law.

thanks so much for your help...if anyone has any more opinions I would love to hear it.

why would you write single.. you are common law; would raise suspicion I think that you write single under a common law application! Whether it's recognised by your country or not!
