Hello all!

Currently I am a downer here so hope I don’t make anyone upset here. Please help a dummy out.

What is happening to me is that my SP for Australia was refused because of GTE; not good enough tie (finically but also civil unrest happening currently) to my home country, not enough tie to go back to the current country of residence which is Singapore and they took it as I’m just using SP for immigration in the future without going back after studying.

So, that would mean I will probably get rejected again if I apply for Canada SP?
if you think I could still have chances, can someone please enlighten this dummy? I‘m currently in the dark corner now.

Thanks in advance.

This doesn't by default mean that your Canadian SP will be refused. If you have a strong profile, the Canadian SP can certainly be approved. If you are only a temporary resident of Singapore (vs. citizen), this generally makes it more difficult to be approved and you have to make sure you've picked a strong program of study in Canada.

You'll need to make sure you declare the Australian refusal in your application to Canada (plus any other refusals).

Hard to comment further without knowing your full profile.

Thank you! But what would make a strong profile?
I’m on a valid work pass in Singapore since 2015.
Country of origin is Myanmar which is ”the civil unrest” thing happening currently.
Holding B.Tech in civil engineering but my plan is to switch to Architectural field which will adapt to my current career profile. NOC that my career belonged to was 22053 before. Now I believe it falls under NOC 22212.
I was thinking to pick Architectural Technology (Fast track, Co-op) 2-year course from Centennial.
I seriously have not worked as civil engineer or technician since I started the career.

hope it helps highlight what my profile is.

Coming to Canada for a Master's or MBA at a public university would strengthen your profile.

The fact you are only in Singapore temporariy and from an unstable country weakens your profile. So you need to have a strong purpose for coming all the way to Canada to study.

The program you've selected now is a weak choice. It's a post secondary diploma which is a lower level of study than a Bachelors. You need to be taking at post-graduate diploma at a minimum. However given your profile, Master's would be much better.

Thanks a lot

About the program I picked, my initial plan was to explain he difference in my previous educational background and current career profile; Civil engineering and Architectural. And thinking to give the reason that I would like to start from the foundation of Architectural course as previous education and work profile are not matched.

You can try that. However there really are a lot of weaknesses in your profile. It would really be better not to be going for a post-secondary diploma in Canada.

Your choice of course.

Also, you have to prove you have significant ties and reasons to return to your country of residence. You can show evidence of a permanent residence status in Singapore (if you have a residence status with an end date, that will weaken your profile). You can submit evidence of ownership of property in Singapore, participation in companies, family members also living in Singapore and staying behind during your studies, etc.
