Hello, so this October, it will have been one year I have lived with my girlfriend in Canada! I need advice as to what to do from here since I am looking to go into the Common law sponsorship route. Here is my deal, I was 18 when I came up here last October, so I was not able to sign on to my girlfriends lease (this is in BC) until I was 19 years old which was in May. So, basically even though my girlfriend was on a lease (her rent was payed for from university sponsorships) we lived with her mother until that May. We do have proof such as a little agreement between us and her mother that I am staying there, and that she took care of me. Once I turned of age, I signed on to the lease with my partner, and lived there with her since it is a bit closer to her school by about 30 minutes. I also was able to sign onto a joint account once I turned 19 as well. My question being this: Would it be best to go with the agreement paper me and her mother had, and pictures together from when we lived there, or should I extend another 6 months until we have been on a OFFICIAL lease for a year? Also to add-I have visited her before, and we are the same age and have pics of us throughout the year, we have been together 3 years (one and a half of which were online as I am from the states) thanks!
