Thanks guys and girls :) It was one hell of a ride for sure with a lot of sleepless nights. But given the positive result our success is much sweeter :)

Per the ETA - There is a statement on the website " Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid Canadian visa. Until September 29, 2016, travellers who do not have an eTA can board their flight, as long as they have appropriate travel documents, such as a valid passport. "

Wouldn't this mean that people holding a valid COPR (valid Canadian Visa) are exempt for it?
Additionally, until sept. 29th you don't need one i think per the 2nd statement. How do you guys understand this?

Update - also found this statement: "New entry requirement now in effect: visa-exempt foreign nationals are expected to have an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to or transit through Canada. Exceptions include U.S. citizens, and travellers with a valid Canadian visa. Canadian citizens, including dual citizens, and Canadian permanent residents cannot apply for an eTA."

Cheers to all! :)
Thank you for finding this +1 :D

My spouse and I will be returning to Warsaw this summer for some holidays and we won't have the PR card before leaving. We will simply remove the CoPR from her passport and tell the airlines on the way back that she is visiting :)

Thank you good sir :) Happy to help :)

Can I ask how you guys arranged the Health Card for you spouse?
What's the waiting time to receive it?
Did you buy insurance before you received it?

There may be a three-month waiting period for your OHIP coverage.

I would recommend a private one during this wait period :)

Hope this helps!

My husband just applied for OHIP, we made sure to do it within a day of landing because yes there is a 3 month waiting period. We are using emergency medical insurance to cover the three months. One thing to know - you have to have proof of residency when you apply, so they ask for something that shows the name of the applicant and the address in Ontario. For example, a bank statement from a Canadian bank with applicant's address and name, or a rental agreement or something that shows the applicant lives in Ontario....that's important to know before you apply because they won't let you without that. We used a bank statement of our joint account.

HOpefully that helps...

I will add my wife to my bank account as soon as we land so it should be ok.

Hi, thanks for this important info. Any idea how that works for children under 2? Our daughter was born in Poland but has both passports. Needless to say, she's never been a resident of Ontario or Canada for that matter:) But I guess all three of us have to get it. I've been gone some time...although I still have my old white&red OHIP card

Anyone know the rates? How much are we talking about for a family of three (2 adults + 1 child)?

Thanks

Once you and your family establish yourselves in Ontario - you will need to apply for all three of you (apply as soon as you can).

Does not cost anything to apply - you will simply need to provide the required documents.

There will be a three month wait period from the day you become residents of Ontario - for you and your family to become covered under OHIP.

I went with Blue cross for my little girl as I am already insured by the RAMQ (in QC). It cost me 125$ for three months for her.

Hello,

I'm in the same boat with a 15 month old little girl.
Our travel agent mentioned that it's around 2.45$ / day for a child and 2.65$ / day for an adult.
Not sure which company it is since I did not have much time to speak with her more on the subject.
As proof of residency, I imagine it only applies for the adults as long as a birth certificate is shown for the baby.

I'll do some more research and post.

Cheers
