Hi Guys, Quick question.

My wife, whom I sponsored for PR back in February, moves around frequently for work, and this year she probably won't be in Russia when she gets her PPR or her Visa. What is our best option? Should we primitively change the address on file to New York or Milan? Or should we just wait for the PPR. My concern is they will ask for her passport and it won't be returned in time; as she already has flights booked and needs it to travel. She also needs it in Milan to reapply for italian residency in October.

Alternatively, If she is already in Milan/EU, could she also physically go down to Warsaw to expedite the process?

Thanks!

August 7 - October 5 - New York

October 5 - 10th - Russia

October 10th - December - Milan

Thank you everyone so much!

This thread has been very useful in finding out more about the processing of sponsorships at the Warsaw office. Most useful was to find out the reason why processing times had increased as well as what actually applicants processing times were!

This thread gives me hope that my application will be processed quickly :)

Best of luck to everyone!

You should probably change the address after she moved to Milan. But she is not very likely to get anything in the mail anyways, it seems like the majority of correspondence happens via email. I am guessing if she is in Milan at the time time she gets her request for submission of passport she could courier it to the visa centre in Moscow. It took my passport 7 working days to get to the visa centre, get the visa stamped and get it back by mail. Since she is will have to send it in from abroad it might take just a few days longer but she shouldn't be without her passport for long even if she needs it to apply for residency in Italy. Try contacting VFS to check with them, they will be handling mailing the visa to the embassy, stamping the visa and sending it back to you. Contacts are here http://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/Russia/english/contact_us.html
As for going down to the embassy, I have no idea if you can do that, the instructions I got for submitting the passport only mention how to do it via VFS or submitting to Ottawa office if the applicant is in Canada. Maybe someone else has experience submitting the passport directly to the embassy.
Hope it helps

Thanks Malinka,

That sounds like a good idea. The other thing I thought of is that even if she mails the passport to Moscow from Italy, and the visa office mails it back to her address in Russia; she could probably have her mom or a friend courier it to Italy. Because I don't want a change in address to hold up the processing time. When the time comes I'll contact the VO and see what I can do. Thank you very much for the advice.

That should work fine as well. The address where the passport will be sent back to doesn't have to match the one they have on the system. You just write down her mom's address as return address when you are sending it to VFS and they will send it to mom. She can then currier it to her in Italy.
Good luck!

Hey Leaf-fan. I see from the spreadsheet you've been requested additional doc's. Can you share what was that bothered them so much about your app?

So distraught! Just got an e-mail from Warsaw VO advising that they don't believe that I have one year continuous living with my common-law spouse. I know where I made my mistake in the application, too. On the Sponsored Spouse/Partner Questionnaire, where it asks for periods of cohabitation, I indicated the dates where we were physically at home, but the gaps in time were when we were traveling. I shouldn't have included that, I guess. I sent a letter to the VO indicating that I made an error on the form, but I don't know if the letter will suffice. Anybody have any advice??? #panicking :(

Thanks for moving that forward, a0. Tried to be open and honest with CIC on my application, maybe too much. In any event, my question still stands: Anybody have any advice???

Oh, dude.. that's a bummer, sorry to hear that. I believe you've made a mistake excluding travels, yes. As during them you where still "cohabiting" together just your place could've been and RV, tent or hotel room, so you should just write an explanation letter saying that you were precise in giving dates of time when you both were physically living in an apartment, the gaps in between you both were traveling, road tripping or whatever and you can't give an address for that time because you simply didn't had one, but note that there was no separation between you, you traveled together and you tried to be honest with times when you weren't on the road. Now you need to be honest and explain the situation and show them that your cohabitation wasn't broken and it was a continuous thing without any separations. At least that's what I would do. And both of you sign it, of course.

Agree with Sheepdog, your cohabitation is not broken by travels. Explain that and if you can also provide some proof that what you means by it is that you went to travel that would be great too. Like if you have any tickets, bookings, pictures, whatever can prove that you were only traveling and haven't moved out from you home. But an honest explanation with both of your signatures as suggested by Sheepdog should work fine to explain. The fact that they emailed you to provide any explanations is already a good sign. They could have just refused on that ground if they had no doubt your cohabitation was not continuous, now it looks like they just need a clarification of your situation.

AOR2 received yesterday :)

Edit: I just logged in to my application and it says 'In process'. I received my AOR2 yesterday and today noticed the 'In process' status on eCAS. What does it mean??? I am a bit confused.
Looking at the 2015 Outland spreadsheet it seems like nobody gets the 'In process' status so quickly!
Please help!

That's a good thing, means they opened your file. The times when they update the online status are very random. Mine never even went in process, it was application received up until I got DM. Lets hope its a sign the Warsaw office is picking up speed again :)

@userpg Congratulations! You are breaking Warsaw VO records. I check the eCAS and the spreadsheet every day to check my status and everyone else's progression. I must say, yours gave me a mini heart-attack. I sent my application few weeks earlier than you did and I'm still waiting for an AOR. I know that for some people eCAS is not updated in a timely manner, those people at CIC are cruel beyond comprehension.
