Just curious - I'm Polish, but I've lived in Canada for almost 2 years now (with my Canadian common law husband), had a work permit for each year, and just got my work permit extended for another year. We are going to apply outland soon, my question is - after SA (hopefully, of course), my file is going to be transferred to Warsaw, or Ottawa? I thought it was going to be Warsaw, but just saw in a different thread that if one lives in Canada during the outland application the file is sent to Ottawa - is that true? Thanks!

It doesn't matter how long you lived in Canada. If PR application is submitted outland, it will be sent accordingly to applicant's nationality. In your case, Warsaw.

Only Americans applicants' applications are sent to Ottawa.

This is not true. I am a Brazilian citizen and because now living in canada on a work visa my application for PR was processed on ottawa (just sent my passport in last week to get COPR and visa).

It's up to CIC where they will send your application and impossible to know until you get your sponsorship approcal

actually, this isn't really the case right now for outland applications. There ARE some european, New Dehli, Asian and other applications being sent to Ottawa. It is unknown what criteria is being used to send these applications to ottawa, except for the fact a majority of the cases seem to be people who are currently in canada on work or study visas. While it shouldn't be expected the application would go to ottawa (and the expectation should be the country of citizenship), there IS a slight possibility it could be transferred to ottawa instead. the only way to know what happens is to submit the application and wait for the Sponsor Approval letter.

Thanks guys! I thought perhaps this has something to do with CIC dealing with its backlog, but I was simply curious - Warsaw is a quick office too, and since we are going to apply in July (so soon!) and I my WP was extended until the end of August 2017 I am at least not worrying about being able to stay with my husband :) and hopefully by August 2017 (KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!) I will have gotten my PR :) (keep your fingers crossed guys) :)

I didn't realized that. Thanks for letting me know. Something is triggering the application to be sent to Ottawa instead of home country other than work / study visa.

Yes, you are right, you can't make an assumption that your application will be sent to Ottawa just because you had a study or work visa in Canada. Always assume home country unless CIC says otherwise.
