Want to apply for CL but need to go back to the U.S.

Hi guys, I need help remembering something. My canadian gf wants to sponsor me through Common law, but if I go back to the states before we file for that..does that make me ineligible? We've lived together over a year but I need to go back to the U.S. for work until I get my PR here. Is this possible? Thanks

If you have the minimum 12 months of provable cohabitation, then you qualify to apply as common-law. You need to emphasise that you plan to get back together as soon as possible, that the break is temporary to allow you to take care of other matters.
