My son has been studying in a college in Ontario since September 2018. I had applied for myself only for 3 weeks to meet him and look after him. I had attached all the required documents, I.e. My ITRs for past 3 years, financial statement for past 6 months, PPF, my husband's ITRs for past 3 years, financial statement for 6 months. All documents from my son. Copy of car RC, credit card etc.

My visa got refused on the basis of

1. travel history, which I do not have. But I want to visit Canada to meet my son.

2. Family ties in canada and in India, whereas, I was leaving behind my younger son of 11 years, my spouse, my own house etc.

3. Purpose of visit

Please advice

On the face of it, your refusal seems odd.

Have you ever been denied any visas in the past? What about your son or your husband?

What was the stated purpose of visit. Did you say "To look after my son"? That might just be the issue...

The simplest reason why you have been refused is because it seems you want to babysit your son for the entire duration of his study permit. Visitors are expected to visit their student-child for a short visit of max 3-4 weeks

Thanks for your comment.
Yes, I just got the catch. Unknowingly, I wrote " to look after my son" , however I did not intend to stay there for more than 3 weeks or so. My younger son and husband did not apply for visa.
Also, though I was refused visa for USA but that was 13 years ago.
Please advise what to do now.
Also, there's another development at my end that after moving out of my job in October 2018, I was working as freelance consultant for past 5 months and mentioned the same experience in my visa application. Now, I have joined another company in the same domain on April 3, 2019 and took their agreement to provide leaves for 3-4 weeks for my visit to Canada.
First, when should I apply again. Secondly, should I update my experience with this new opportunity while filing the form as it came to me while the process of visa was going on.
Please help!

1. Do post the list of documents that you had submitted.

2. Your current employment is not a strong employment tie as you have started working barely a week ago. It will become an employment tie after you are confirmed/after probation i.e. approx. 7-8 months

3. Changing your purpose of visit from 'wanting to take care of your son' to 'just visiting/sightseeing' will not seem convincing currently

Wait a few months and then apply. Maybe 7-8 months as Bryanna suggested.
