hi, I have a few questions regarding visitor visas based on a situation. So, my mom is visiting me and she has 2 months left for the 6 month visitor visa period for each entry into Canada. Also, her visa will expire in August 2020. my questions are-

1. Can she extend her stay even after the 6 month time frame ends?
2. Can she apply for a new visitor visa at this time since it will expire in 2020?

prompt replies are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

She can only extend her stay in Canada before the six months has expired; she could apply for the extension on the last day, but I don't recommend it necessary. (This is a "status extension")

She can apply for a new visa, also near the end of the old one, remembering processing times.

However - a visitor status extension expires as soon as she leaves the country and cannot be used to re-enter. A new visa does not extend the status if she is still in Canada.

Thanks for the reply. You said she can apply near the end of the old one. Can you clairfy this 'near' time frame please? Is it when it's less than 6 months? And is it not allowed to apply if there's still more than 6 months left ?
