Visitor Visa for the InLaws

Dear Forum members,

We are planning to apply for a Visitor visa for my Inlaws (Father and Mother InLaw, Brother Inlaw - Minor, 2 Sister InLaws). My father inlaw runs a very successful business and has been doing this business for over 20+ years. Has quite many properties and a regular tax payer. As we are expecting our third child, this time we thought we can invite my InLaws to come and stay with us for a month or 2 to help us through the process as I travel quite a bit due to work.

However we would like my wife's brother (who is a minor, 13 years old) and 2 sisters to come along with the parents as well so that they can see this beautiful country as well.

So my question is the timing of the Visa applications. I can see 2 options as mentioned below.

1. Apply the Visas for all of them together.
2. Apply the visa for the parents first and than after a while, for the children.

The reason I thought for the second option was so that atleast the parents will get the Visas.

Their Visa office will be Islamabad.

Any thoughts or insights on recent experience will be appreciated.

Hey there!

I'm no expert, so I'm not sure which scenario would be better. All I can say is that you need to make a strong case for them. The main thing about a TRV application is that CIC wants to see proof that the applicant will return to their home country after their visit, and not stay in Canada. How to prove this?

- letters from employers back home stating that time off was approved and applicant is expected back at work on a certain date
- proof of ownership for business, house etc
- proof of sufficient funds for their entire trip in Canada, or if you will be paying for everything, show that you can afford it
- lease agreement, school schedule for the kids
- any other sort of responsability or engagement that would prove that the applicant needs to return home

I would also add that it is good to show travel history for the applicants. It shows that they have been to other countries and have returned home after.
