Visitor visa for parents----IRCC asking for Marriage certificate

Hi,

Im a Canadian citizen and applying for my parents visitor visa online on IRCC portal. They are asking to upload parents marriage certificate. They have been married for 46 yrs but don't have a certificate. Without uploading that document its not allowing to move forward in the application. They are aged and not in a position to get the certificate. Is it mandatory to upload the marriage certificate? OR is there any other alternative?

Any suggestions please advise.

You can submit an explanation letter ,(Why they can't produce marriage certificate) Along with affidavit (Notarized) + Their passport showing Spouse name on each other passport , That will solve your purpose
