Hello,
Let me explain the scenario to you :

My mother applied for visitor visa in 2024 to support my wife with her pregnancy
  • We only applied for my mother and answered NO for the question : Will your spouse/common-law partner accompany you to Canada .
  • My father was not going to accompany her at that time to Canada
  • Her visa got approved & she came to Canada and returned back to her home country in 3 months.
Fast forward to 2026

I now want to apply visitor visa for my father as well. That is going to be a single application as my mother already has a visa.
This time my mother & father will visit Canada together

Query :
What should i answer to this question Will your spouse/common-law partner accompany you to Canada ? Answer yes even if your spouse will join you later in Canada.
If i answer Yes will that be contradicting with my mother visa application ? But she already visited once without her spouse and returned back as well . what does later signifies in this case ?
If i answer NO then that would be the wrong as they will visit Canada together.

Please let me know you thoughts?

Answer yes. Your mother was the only one who previously traveled so answering yes for subsequent visits is fine. The fact that your mother returned home is viewed as a positive although your father was a tie to return home for your mother. Really depends on their application.
