Hello all,

I landed in Canada as a PR few months back and then I came back to USA.
I plan to go to Canada early next year.
I will be applying for my parents visitor visa now.
Do I need to be in Canada when they go for visitor visa.
Or can they get canada visitor visa saying that they will be visiting me next year.
Note they have visitor visa for USA.

Also I would like to apply for their green card sometime in 2 years.
Is it ok to get visitor visa first and then immigration next year.

Thanks a lot.

Where are your parents coming from? If you have just got PR for Canada why are you planning on getting a Green Card in USA? Sorry just curious! I am pretty sure you need to prove you will be in Canada when your parents intend to Visit..i.e have a job lined up and a place to live etc...

I think the OP wants his parents to get the green card, maybe?

No such thing as a green card in Canada - that's the USA. I guess you're talking about sponsoring them for permanent status in Canada. You need to be living in Canada to do that - their application will be processed at the visa office that represents their country of birth, or maybe through Buffalo depending on what their status is in the States. Here are the timelines for processing for parents/grandparents sponsorship.

Not sure about getting them a visitor visa for Canada . . . again, depends on their status in the States and what country they're from.
