Hi lellen,

So we must apply using the paper package? No way to apply online? When we called CIC earlier, the agent said we could apply online and so we did.

Thanks.

You can apply online, uploading the documents from the application package on the link I gave you.

We submitted on July 9th, and the status is still open.

Finally got approved on September 24, I guess it may take longer for the countries that require medical examinations.

Hi you can log into your Mycic account to check the approval letter which tells you how long visa you have got.

Good luck

Any one here got the visa extension already?

I applied visa extension on august 3 and got approved on September 8.

Hope you have got yours.

Oh no! I'm getting nervous that those that sent their visa extensions out by july are now just getting news. I thought I was doing myself a favor by sending my extension via mail and possibly buying more time to stay in Canada while I wait to hear about PR. I thought there was a grace period for those that are waiting to hear about visa extensions even after their initial visitor's visa expires.....does anyone have any concrete info on that?

As long as you submitted the extension application before the visa expires (submitted means it is received by CIC), you are legal to stay in Canada for the period after the expiration date and before they make a decision and your extension. For example, if it takes CIC ten years to process your application, you can legally stay in Canada for ten years regardless of the result of the extension application.

Betcha wish you had included that OWP with your Inland application after all.

Hopefully, you'll hear something soon.

I think a lot of us wish this - Ponga. I, however, did not know that this was an option and am now continually needing a visa extension for my husband.

My hubby is applying for his 2nd visa extension while he waits for PR.

Question: On the application form it asks how long he is going to stay... Since we are hoping for a one year extension, can we put in 1 year? (Actually, of course, we are hoping he'll have his PR before that ... but you know how it is).

Also, if I include a letter explaining that we are only applying for this extension because we are waiting for inland PR processing approval - is that a good idea? What all did you include in your apps besides what they ask for?

I sent an explanation letter that I'm waiting for my PR and included the AOR and print outs from eCAS to prove it.
And yes, I put the date I asked for in the "how long will you stay" question.

I just got my second visa extension on September 8 . I asked 1 year extension for the first one and one and half year for the second one and I got all what I asked. It seems they just give what you ask.

But I did include explanation letters for two applications.I just told them I am in Canada waiting for PR and also send bank statements showing my husband's income( bank accounts under my name and my hubby's). I also mentioned our SA in explanation letter for second extension.

I did online application for two extensions.

Good luck for everyone
