My American friend is currently here in Canada on a visitors visa which expires Dec 9th 2011.
She is currently in process of extending her visitor visa, online and has a few questions about the process
She just graduated in April 2011 with her Bachelors from a post secondary Canadian School and was unaware of the post-grad work permit.
On July 31st 2011, her work permit and study permit expired, at which time she went back to the States and re-entered Canada in mid September 2011 in hopes of being employed (paid employment). The place of employment did submit a labour market opinion that was rejected. She is wanting to stay in the country and is currently seeking out several job opportunities. However, she is still on her visitors visa which is due to expire soon and unsure what she should do to stay in Canada.
1. Because she is wanting to work in Canada, is there another type of visa or approach that she should follow?
2. Is it worth going through the current visitor visa extension process (she hasn't submitted it yet) or should she simply go to the border and attempt to come back into Canada?
3. how much would demonstrate as being 'sufficient' funds for the duration of the proposed extension?
4. What is the process for paying fees for the extension if applying online
5. If she applies for the extension and it is rejected, what are her options, particularly if she has a car and furnishings etc. here in Canada and can't move at short notice?
