Hello,

I am an Indian Citizen. I came to Canada on a Visitor Visa in Sep 2014 and my status expires in Mar 2015.
In Canada, I got married and my spouse has a Open Work Permit till 2017. I hired a lawyer to apply for a work permit.
He applied through paper application to the Vegreville Alberta office (which was wrong). I should have applied to a visa office in India or through mail to New York office. In mid Dec 2014 I got my work permit refusal. My lawyer screwed up my application.
The refusal letter stated 3 points:
1st) I need a LMIA to apply for a work permit from my prospective employer or I need a PNP.
2nd) I am not the person who can apply for an application of this type from within Canada.
3rd) My status is valid from Sep 2014 to Mar 2015

I understood the 1st and 2nd point but I failed to understand the 3rd point.

On the CIC website the information is insufficient regarding people in Canada on Visitor Visa.

Now my question is:
1) How can I apply for an open work permit?
2) What documents do I need to submit?
3) How long will it take to get a work permit?
4) I have already got a refusal once, will it affect my current application?
5) I only have 2 months remaining as my Visa will get expired in starting of MAr 2015. Can I still apply?

Thanks for your patience.
