Hi there,

So my in-laws are coming here with Visitor Visas. I know for a fact that they can use their Driver's Licenses to drive for the 1st 3 months. Can they get any sort of licenses after those 3 months to be able to drive?

Let me know please.

Thanks!

Non-Canadians holding an International Driver Licence issued outside Canada, may use their licence in Alberta for 12-months or until the licence's expiry date, whichever comes first.

Depends on the rules of the province. I know in Ontario you are not allowed to drive on a foreign licence after 3 or 6 months. My wife got her Ontario DL while on a visitor visa. Just make sure that you bring a drivers abstract in English or with official translation to change the licence, and proof of address.
