Hi all,

I’m planning to visit direct family in Canada (brother in law) and while my accompanying wife doesn’t require a visa, I have a Pakistani passport.

I’ve already had a visa rejected in the past, but at that time I had no family living in Canada and I didn’t have ILR.
Has anyone been successful in obtaining a visa for canada with an ILR?
My reasoning is that an ILR in the the Uk is pretty much a citizen i.e has pretty much the same rights. If a UK citizen can visit without a visa there shouldn’t be many issues in letting an ILR visit, but I also understand it’s more complex than this. Had there not been diplomatic issues, they would probably require even citizens to go through the same rigorous checking… but the thing is, why would any sane person leave their legal permanent status to live the so called Canadian cold dream? jk…

also, what can I show in my “strong ties” to the UK? I don’t really own any properties…

Why don’t you show your “ ILR”, since you equate it too almost being a citizen ?
