Visit visa for parents application now in the 3rd year

Hi,

Me and my wife are PRs in Canada and my wife's parents applied for visit visa in 2015 May. As yet the status still shows the application in process. We reached out to local MPA office who talked to the embassy/CIC?
Their response was that since my wife's father was a retired police officer, it takes more time to get the clearances in place.

Has anyone else encountered a similar situation and can help advise as to what steps can we possibly take to get their app processed and approved? We are originally from Pakistan.

Any guidance will be highly appreciated!

I've never heard of a visitor visa taking that long. Have you tried ordering the application case notes yet to see what is going on?

Get your in-laws to fill out the consent form in the link, and then you or your wife can make the request ($5 fee). You must use the Access to Information Act.
