Regarding the foreign workers strike I read the websites too. But, the one thing that concerns me is that although they did not list Vienna in complete stoppage like the other offices abroad-ie Hong Kong or Tokyo. Can we be sure that Vienna is working at full capacity? Does anyone know?

I have never felt so helpless as I do now. My husband is from Serbia, and Vienna received our docs on September 27th. 2012. It is now July 2013 and we are still pending background checks. We sent translations and cert. copies of his military booklet in December, and are on the second medical exam as the first one expired. I understand no process can be taken care of in a perfect time frame.

Does anyone know how the background check process works? Is it worked on from Vienna?

if they requested a second medical i'd be cautiously optimistic that your case is almost done. Usually they won't request a second medical unless the background checks are finished. Europe is right though, things do slow down significantly in the summer, our case was transferred to Vienna last june and they didn't even open it till mid-September. But it's all luck of the draw in the end.

Coming onto this forum and reading the last few 'updates' from everyone is really cheering me up, thanks! =D
Good to hear that the Vienna office is alive and kicking so to speak. My hubby and I should be filing (finallyyy) by the end of this month! *rejoyce*
Hope everyone is having a great summer so far, and staying positive! It's rough, but like someone mentioned a few posts back, we should enjoy the present and stay positive about the future. (or that may have been from another thread... hmmm)

Vienna could be alive but not kicking at all! ;D

Luckily the summer is very big event here in the old country and more luckily we are only a few meters from the beach so that makes things a little calmer on our nerves and giving us patience with Vienna. So far with the exemption of few members here no one else had any luck in contacting Vienna to learn something about his/her apps fate!

I hope by the time you are filling, things would be a little easier so you will not go through the same hassle! I wish you good luck with your preparations for the applications to be send soon with all my heart!

You are blessed that you are close to your spouse , i was far away from my hubby , we were away and in the end came we won the waiting time came over , we still dont beleive is over this waiting time ,
SAnBean my husband didnt received yet his PR, i read in this forum it can take 2-3 months .

no worries, you should be getting it any day now, we just got it 1-2 weeks ago. Haven't had to use it anyways, very happy to stay in Canada for the moment!

thanks yeah I think of you guys quite often and remember how hard those "waiting days" were. I actually have 1-2 couples that are about to start the process now and i did my best to try to tell them all the tips so that they don't waste time unecessarily. it's definitely not an easy process to go through but it's worth it in the end My husband was very happy to celebrate Canada Day on the parlament hill for the first time as a PR, it was cool

My wife is doing much better and we are expecting our baby girl in late September...not too far now~
This is so nice to share such a nice holiday with your husband in Ottawa. Although I have been to that city many times during my stay in Canada, I never had the luck to be there on Canada Day!

was wondering if its necessary to add the "Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union", Form IMM 5409 if my common-law partner is sponsoring me?
I saw in few older topics in the forum that some people just added it to their application. Mostly because they heard that some people had to send it in at a later date and it delayed the whole application. I'm just wondering if that is still happening or if there are any news about this? Because it says it pretty clear in the guide that you don't need to fill it out when your partner is sponsoring you! Its only if the partner is the co-signer of the application (I guess when you sponsor kids etc.).

Hi and welcome to Vienna thread!
You are saying that you will send your apps to Vienna. I am sure it was miss phrased by you but the apps must be send to Mississauga first and then they will send them to Vienna. That's for the record!
We did not sent a "Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union", Form because in our countries common law is not recognised as a legal procedure, so we omitted this form. I believe that if you can have then yes, send it along!
Once you send your apps come back to this forum and this thread and give us the following info so you may be added in our spreadsheet
