So Remrov, I saw in a previous thread you mentioned because we are from a visa exempt country we dont get a PPR. Could you explain what the steps were for your process? Did you just get AOR and then waited for a few months and got COPR? Did they not request copies of your passport? Thanks :)

Hi everyone! My status finally got changed to DM two days ago!! I haven't received a letter or email yet as I have a representative so got to wait to hear from him!
Here is my timeline should anyone be interested.

Medical done August 2012 and submitted with application package.
We received your application for permanent residence on September 14, 2012.
Some signatures had been missed and were requested in October 2012.
We started processing your application on February 5, 2013.
Medical results have been received.
Right of permanent residence fee paid. (Not requested at that point)
A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision. (1st march 2012)
I hope I get some good news soon. So nerve wrecking that they don't give you the outcome on the e-cas website!!!

I am already in Canada on a visitor visa and was wondering if anyone has any advice regarding a turnaround at the boarder? Buffalo wouldn't be too far for me but I know there are a few crossings in the area. Has anyone got any recommendations as to which one would be the best? Also is there a time where it isn't so busy?
Thanks in advance :)

Also forgot to ask if I need to complete the ESTA form before I go? I am planning to go to buffalo for some shopping prior to coming back to the border!

Hi Tanja,

we did the same - went to Buffalo for a day and when we came back I landed as a PR. We got in the States through the Queenston-Lewiston crossing and came back over the Rainbow Bridge (Niagara Falls). It was a Tuesday and I landed at 8.30pm - it was completely empty and we were the only ones at the border at that time. The whole landing process took about 10 min.

Are you German? You don't need ESTA when you're entering the USA by land. You will have to get your fingerprints and photo taken and pay $6 for the visa waiver which is good for 90 days.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions! :)
(PM, as I don't check the forum that much anymore)

Hi Franzi

Thank you so much for all the info. Exactly what I was looking for. Sorry for replying on the message board but it won't let me send PM's. My status went to DM almost a week ago but I haven't heard anything yet. So frustrating not knowing.
Send me you email address via PM if you would like and I keep you posted on my process.
I'm originally from gütersloh in Germany but left the country in 2008 and have been travelling since. Big decision to finally settle somewhere :)
Anyway, thanks again for all the info. I think I will do it the same way once I hear from Vienna.

Tanja

SanBen,

Nope.
I did my re-med here in Ottawa so they will be sending it there and they will forward it to Vienna.
I got an e-mail from Vienna this morning and they told me the info hasn't arrived yet. (The Dr's office send out the results on Feb 1st)

They will contact me as soon as they receive it, so i guess it really is the last bit.

but we are 10 days behind, ours was sent in on the 11th. Man, that means that they are pretty slow if you've been waiting 5 weeks already. Oh well. Like you said, I hope this is the last bit. Keep me posted please if you hear anything from them.
