Urgent:

I have a question for all who can reply and give some help.

I have a friend, who wants to attend a Language Course in Vancouver. He made a payment for that course including homestay family for one month, but wants to know what kind of documents he needs to submit in order to have more chances to get the visa. Does he need to prove that he has property in his country and that he has a job so he is not going to stay there (Vancouver) after he finishes the course. His visa office is Vienna.

Any additional information would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

Question. How do you know if you are exempt from the passport request (PPR)?

My wife and I are living in Canada and have sent the application to Vienna. We plan on traveling back to Europe this May. If the office requests he passport she won't have it to fly back in May. what then?

Here is a link where you can see all the countries that do need visa and the ones that are exempt (the link is just below the title, so it takes you to the bottom of the page): http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp#exemptions

Thanks NS021.

She is from Slovakia and doesn't need a visa. I didn't realize they only requested passports from countries who are not exempt.

Hi Doni,

As far as I know, your friend will need to submit anything that would help prove his intent to return back home. There is no rule on the amount of evidence submitted, but the more the better. For example, if he is employed, he needs an employment letter from his company and a letter that states his time off (in this case - one month). If he has some property, he needs proof that he is the owner. If he is a university/ college student, he would need proof that he is enrolled and that he plans to continue. These are only some examples. Additional examples would be proving that he has enough funds in his account. They do ask for a copy of his bank book or a printout of the last few months transactions. If he has a family (wife, kids) that helps too. Then they know for sure he would return. If he makes a reservation with a travel agency, he will need to show the return flight itinerary.
These are some of the things I can think of right now. They will certainly be suspicious as to why the applicant is attending a language course in Vancouver when language courses are available anywhere else, his country included, so he better be careful what he says.

I hope it helps somewhat. Good luck to your friend. :)

Finally!!! Went to Vienna yesterday and got my wife's COPR and visa!!! Everything was finished pretty quickly, submitted passport in the morning and picked it up around 2:15pm. Just ensure that all the info on COPR and visa is correct or not missing. Birthplace of my wife is missing on her COPR, however that's quite common for applicants with lengthy birthplace name. It will be mentioned and corrected at the airport during the landing procedure (December 9).

Good luck to all of you and I wish you speedy resolution of your cases. Feel free to PM me and I will try to get back to you at my earliest convenience.

Also, just saw the post that someone got their sponsorship approval (stage 1) in 6 days!!! I was gob-smacked.
