I have a very peculiar situation and really need clarification from the members of this forum. Your help and time is much appreciated.

I am on a Work Permit and my spouse is accompanying me here on a Visitor Visa. We applied for the extension of our respective status in August and my work permit and my wife's visitor record is valid till Aug 2013.

I have JUST applied for PR under CEC category. My application has been received by CIC (i.e. acknowledgement of courier received), however the Credit Card has not been charged (and obviously no AOR, eCAS status etc).

We have to go to our home country for first two weeks in December and plan to come back to Canada. I will have to apply for a Transit Resident Visa (TRV) while I am at my home country.

Will there be any issue in getting the visa for me and my wife? Is my PR considered in-process the moment I have mailed the application?
I have been travelling to Canada since 2007 and my wife's been with me for last 6 months and never had a problem getting a visa/extension.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? I know it is recommended to stay in Canada while PR application is in process but could any one provide some clarity on the rules/laws? Any advice will be really helpful.

Thanks

While your PR is in review you're not restricted to travel by the PR application.

Thanks a lot for your response swalsh19.

Will there be any issue in getting the visa for my wife? Will she be treated as a spouse of in-Canada applicant or will she be allowed to come with me with a dependent visitor visa.

toronto7, your PR application is not even in process meaning you have not received your AOR. I think your app will be lying among those thousands of application awaiting review. I think you can go and come back without any tension.
