Hi brothers,
I just noticed onething here....my 2012 t4 had approximately $500 less that the total amount earned. It was because my pay was estimated at $x/hr but in fact I was paid $x+3/hr that particular month. Hence my t4 has close to $500 short. But when the CRA re-estimated my taxes ans asked me to pay 500 which I paid. I also have a CRA statement saying that my balance owing is $0.

Now I am a bit worried if that will be a problem....

How will that be a problem? Employer made an error on the T4, CRA audited your taxes, you paid your dues and are now in the clear. Attach the relevant copies of the documentation and you will be fine.

I note that there are discrepancies in your declared pay between the offer of employment(dated xxx 2012) and your updated letter of employment (Datedxxx 2014), specifically that your Offer of employment states that you would receive an annual base salary of $xx,xxx per annum for all hours worked, whereas your updated letter of employment states that you were on a variable pay per hour.

Actually, I did not send an updated letter letter of employment. It was updated reference letter from my old company.

My only intention behind sending on updated reference letters was to let CIC know what I was actually earning. So that they can match my paystubs and T4. And I sent them as I realised my mistake(sending reference letters without salary infomation) and wanted to correct it.It was just an honest attempt to give the right information.Thats it...

Hi Brothers,
Now I got to know what the real problem is and why the VO was saying there is discrepancies. As I was working as a full time my reference letters said 40/hr week, go by the definition of full time. But in reality if I see by the total number of weeks it becomes way higher than what I actually worked,

Now, I am planning to send a new reference letter with the updated number of hours and variable salary(as declared earlier). Will this help me??
Please respond........

Hi amarecharla,

In your new thread you mention your reference letters said 40/hr week and that was the reason why the VO found difference on my T4 and stated income.
How did you stated your income in your previous letter? Is it was annually or per hour?
If it is per hour then only VO can calculate the total income. I am sorry if it is a silly question but just want to confirm this.

Thanks,

Something between 35-37.5/week...

Hi Nick,
I stated the income as variable(also gave the exact numbers per month) and per hour. But as I was a full time employee....the reference letters were saying 40hr/wk..

Oh I see. If they multiply your hourly rate by 40hr/wk, then multiply it by 52 weeks, then they'll a number a lot bigger than your actual salary...

That should be easily sorted out with a new reference letter. It'll undoubtedly cause a delay, though.

Yeah that 40hr/wk caused the whole problem and was the reason for high income as calculated by VO. Also, my paystbs showed hours worked monthly....not weekly
