very basic... what to do when u land at Calgary?

hi,

i might land around July this year and plan to go to calgary..

questions I have are:

1............ what kind of hardships do i have to face at the start?

2.............. how much money do i have to take along?

3........... where (i mean which part) of the city is best to settle?

4.............. any other u people have in mind

BTW, i have three kids, 15, 12 and 7.

a) Well as it appears from your user name ,if you work in oil and gas industry you shdnt have much problem in getting a job in Calgary.In my view the biggest problem is to get a first job in Canada so if you are able to get a job quickly you could be able to settle very easily.

b)Weather , if you are coming from a hot country ,you might face problems due to severe winters.


2.............. how much money do i have to take along?

2) There is no limit ,bring as much money as you can as its very expensive country and initially you need to spend a lot of $$$$.My initial expenses were atleast 20K.

3........... where (i mean which part) of the city is best to settle?

3) It depends upon your job location, schooling for children ,preferences etc.However NW and SW are considered best quadrants for living,if you are a desi (Pakistani, Indian,bengali) NE might be the place of attraction for you.


4.............. any other u people have in mind
