Hi,

From various sources, it can be summarised that Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Halifax and Regina are good for immigrants.

Lets share the pros and cons of different cities as most of us are open to any destination in Canada.

Please share your experience.

Dear,
I, with my husband, plan to land in Calgary by end of Aug 2012.
We are also expecting our first baby around end Nov and it makes us more nerves about coming to an entirely new place with minimum information about it.
Have so many questions like;
What kind of challenges we may have face with a 6 month permanent lady especially when winter is setting in?
What kind of housing/place is better for woman in this condition?
How to find a rented place to live and which area (crime free and with good access/transport/train system)?
Should we plan to buy a vehicle or we can survive without it there?
How much a good condition second hand pickup truck/car usually cost?
What on avg. monthly budget we should plan for a family of two + a baby?
Being Muslim I would also look for information about hilal food, Mosques and Muslim community etc
Huh...and so many more.......
PLEASE! Share your experiences advises and provide as much information as possible even beyond aforementioned questions
God bless you all
Thanks

Calgar is pretty safe all around town
For places to live i suggest you take a look at homerent .ca there are lots of places
Public transportationis very good its all under schedule calgarytransit.ca
For used cars you can look in kijiji.ca an select calgary then search
Or you can always go to a dealer and get one

The winter is cold but you just dressup and learn to live with it
Calgary is the city with the most amount of sunlight in the winter but it gets cold it varies between -10c to -50c
Visit theweathernetwork.ca or .com cant remember

He -20 and underits just a few days you alsoget chinooks that are wam winds that push the cold away ans you can go from -30 to +18 in hours. This happens very often in the winter specially last winter tat wasnt cold at all
Average -5 with just 5 days below-20

If you are muslim look around the NE there are lots of muslims up there im not so i dont know much
But there is no racisim in canada specially in calgary its all multy cultural

Hope this helps

Hi!!!
We are considering Toronto or Ottawa. Which city to choose? We are family of 2 adults and 1 baby.
My main question is - is it difficult to find job for mom with the baby. What about day care? are they are expensive?
How much min we have to earn to support family & have dissent live?
We are lil worry as we have baby.
Thanks a lot for your reply.
Regards,
Marvik

hi Shrestha,

I was just wondering why you did not considered Montreal to include in this list :)

People says, it's a beautiful city with better job prospects and lower cost of living compared to other metros..

yes, french is mandatory to live a smooth, happy life in montreal. :)

But lately, there are news of many immigrants who moved from Toronto to Montreal, especially software personnels.
