validity of US Visitor visa on old hand handwritten passport

Hello,

I had a 10 years validity of US visitor visa stamped (set to expire on July 2017) on my old handwritten passport. I recently got a new Machine Readable passport because I'm told that handwritten passports are acceptable after November 25. 2015. I'm planning visit to the US next month. Do I need to apply for a new US visitor visa ? or can I visit to the US with the old visa
stamped on my old handwritten passport ? Please advise.....

Hi,

Yup, the Indian government had set a deadline of November 25, 2015 to replace handwritten Indian passports.

If your US B1/B2 visa is valid until July 2017 then you must travel with both passports. The immigration staff at the departure airport may hand write VIOP (Visa In Old Passport) in your new passport
