US to Canada - Travel and Setup

Hi All,

I'll be moving to Toronto from NY later this month on an ICT. This sub-forum seems to be where most of the settling in discussion is centered so I'd like to get your inputs on the following

1. Drive vs Fly
Beyond the obvious differences in cost, convenience, luggage capacity, are there other considerations (e.g. immigration process, documentation needed ..etc.) in driving vs flying to Toronto?

2. Quarantine
Any recommendations on places/services that worked well (Hotels/Airbnb/Corp Apts)?

3. Setup
Apartment search- Is it virtual tours only?
Bank Accounts- Can Bank accounts be opened shortly after landing or does this require a SIN?
Money Transfer- Are people using travelers checks or US Debit card or TransferWise to transfer money from US bank accounts?

Thanks. That link was very helpful. Will I be able to open a bank account a few days after landing or do I have to wait until there is some form of address proof. Can an employer letter serve as address proof?

You need to quarantine first.
