I am sure this has been asked a million times - I've been able to piece together some of this, but just want to post as there must be others in the same situation where they can add their experiences. Also, is there an FAQ for terms, such as AOR, COPR, etc?

Sponsoring wife, she is a US citizen living in the US. Had all security and medical work done prior to application being submitted. Here is our status:

Application sent - 1/31/2013
Application received (AOR?) - email arrived on 2/16/2013 saying that they had received the application on 2/1/2013
Sponsorship approved - 2/25/2013

Now, looking at the online screen, we have 'Decision Made' for Sponsorship, and 'Application Received' for Permanent Residence. Under Permanent Residence, we have:

We received XXX's application for permanent residence on February 1, 2013.
Medical results have been received.

I've been reading around trying to figure out what the medical records means, and from the CIC website itself it seems to indicate that Medical Records Received appears in the Decision Made stage:

url stripped - says I am not able to post links

So I guess this is just an interim medical record step?

Also, I am looking at the spreadsheets for October, November, December to gauge progress, and they don't really mention anything specific to a medical records 'step'. What can we expect to happen next?

Thanks for any insight!

Your wife had a medical done, they are confirming that they've received the results from that medical, and that Ottawa has your application. Now you wait. From here you can get a request for an interview or more information, or that will be waived, and they'll send her COPR, since you're in a VISA exempt country.

AOR = acknowledgement of receipt (so yes)
PPR = Passport request
COPR = Confirmation of Permanent Residence (when you get the visa)

Medicals means the exam your wife took - they got the doctor's report and linked it to her file. That's good! :) Unless your application goes 12 months past her medical exam date, the medicals are done. (Or unless she's inadmissible for some reason because of the medicals - they may ask for a second opinion or more tests.)

I don't think Ottawa gives AOR for Stage 2 (acknowledge they got your application for applicant approval & relationships genuinness.... weird word) so your next step is PPR/COPR in a few months hopefully!

Some people from Ottawa have not gotten PPR, gone straight to COPR! We were actually discussing this on the Ottawa thread.

You can post your time there and Shylox or IvanP will add you to the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet - if you want to take a look - is in my signature. Also, you're eligible for the January 2013 spreadsheet, which I am the owner of! :) We have a Jan 2013 thread, which is dead at the moment, but you are welcome to join in as well.
