Hello all, hopefully someone replies to this sooner than later.

I'm trying to work through getting my US girlfriend up here to Canada. At first I thought conjugal visa was the way but from what I've been reading that may not be the best way. We are willing to get married (small ceremony now) but that means coming here and her coming here or me there just to get married. Which wouldn't be an issue if she was able to stay longer than 180days but between completing the application, arranging the marriage ceremony (probably the easiest of it all), and the processing time sounds like it would take more than 6months for the application to get processed alone not including anything else. So I'm wondering if we get married and submit the application, while it's being processed can she stay longer than the 180 days?

A little info on us, we've been dating long distance for roughly 7 years, known each other roughly 8 years. We talk through phone, text, or online almost every day, not very often do we not talk but it happens 3hour time difference and opposite work schedules. But we usually at minimum text each other. We've visited one another me multiple times usually for two weeks at a time, and her once but for month. We haven't in the last 2ish years simply to save money (she moved with family from Arizona to New Hampshire which doubled cost of ticket and travel time) for the move as well as kept getting harder and harder to say goodbye.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can apply to extend the visitor 'visa' before it expires.

And there is no way conjugal would ever be approved, so definitely don't go down that route.

Simple. Get married (anywhere) and then submit an Outland application. An Outland application can be submitted even if she were to be IN Canada when it's submitted.

Most American's are benefiting from a quick Outland processing time of ~ 6 months (+/-), because their applications are being processed in Ottawa, not LA or NY. Only those with `issues' are processed there...which takes substantially longer.

Or...you visit her and then submit the Outland application. She can then come to Canada as a visitor and if needed, apply to extend her stay online. With proof of an active sponsorship application submitted, it's usually approved.

Also does my future spouse need to be examined by an American panel physician or can she be examined by a Canadian one? She's American moving to Canada.

I'm American, and my daughter and I saw a Canadian panel physician when we were visiting my husband in July.

Either one is fine.
