Hi, I am planning to land in Windsor soon and am curious. I am a US citizen with a US passport. I am obtaining PR via my spouse. Will the Canadian Border patrol keep my passport in order to process my Permanent Residency, or do they give it back to you the same day? I have my COPR and everything, I am just concerned about the passport. I am curious because I will need it to re-enter the United States, as we are not moving for a few more months. Do they give you your passport back or do they keep it until your PR card is mailed to the Canadian address you provide? Thank you for your help.
