Hi everyone,

I have just completed a year of Canadian experience and my CRS score is 474. If I complete another year it will be 487 which is still a low score. I have NO foreign experience and still have 2 years on my PGWP.

Question: rather than doing another year of experience in Canada for a total CRS of 487, can I go to my home country do a year which brings me to around 512 which is a much better score. Is this legal? I would get the year of experience and return back to Canada and accept the ITA in Canada after getting it ( I would still have around a year of PGWP left)

Sure, you can do this. Although I'm not sure how a year of foreign work experience gets you to from 474 to 512.

FYI - You don't have to be in Canada to accept ITA.

My main concern is that they reject my application because I went back to Nigeria just to get a year of experience. My car payments and insurance would still be running here so they can clearly see my intention is to return back after a year of foreign experience. I’d still have a valid work permit (pgwp) and visa.
Has anyone done this before? It seems smart to me considering the first year of foreign experience gives much more points than a 2nd year of canadian experience.

You're worrying for no reason. There is no requirement for you to show intent to return.

You’re not getting my concern.

Will IRCC decline my application because I’m going to my home country rather than the usual path people take of getting more experience in Canada for express entry.

Will they think I’m manipulating the system by going to my home country even whilst having a valid work visa here (pgwp) BECAUSE my car payments etc will still be running in Canada for that year so it’s obvious my intention to leave for a year was to JUST get more CRS points.

I AM understanding.

No, they will not decline your application. Once again, there is no requirement to remain in Canada or show ties to Canada. You can do whatever you want. Lots of people are doing whatever they can to increase their points and be selected.

There's no such rule that you can't do it. As you've been told before, you are worry for no reason.
