Your wife having a baby and you trying to get a visa would just make it in the eyes of the IO a bigger reason why you would not leave, her being pregnant will in no way speed up the process at all.Lets hope your are here for the arrival of your little one.And congrats on the baby.

There's not a way to speed up your becoming a permanent resident.

I would recommend contacting the visa office responsible for visitors' visas and asking whether you would be able to obtain one quickly in your situation. I get the impression that Canadian consular staff aren't terribly sympathetic toward people who require visas to visit.

Yes they would. In their mind it is more reason for you not to return to your country.I hate to be the bearer of bad news but to immigration you having a baby means nothing. They will just congrats you and thats it.Having family here is the number one reason they refuse visit visas. What one thing more in this world would keep you from going home after your visa expired.(a wife here a new baby here).
Im sorry but thats just the way it is.But by all means there is no harm in trying for a visit visa, you can apply for sure, the worse they can say is no.If you have really strong ties that you must return home for and could provr without a doubt that you must return home for then maybe you will be issued one.But in all honesty the fact you are wanting to come because of a new baby just weakens the chance.

I don't have any personal experience with this, because I never needed a visa to visit Canada, but my understanding is that you will probably be refused if there's a reason for them to believe you will overstay.

First of all - Congratulations! It's very exciting news, if not exactly the best timing.

You're processing through New Delhi, correct? They are quite fast, so if all goes well you should have your visa before the baby arrives. Is your wife just newly pregnant? She would be due in 2011? Hopefully that's enough time.
