Hello,

I am looking to speed up my citizenship application so that I can use my passport for working in the US under TN visa.

So, just wanted to check if any one here has used a US job offer as a reason for urgent processing of citizenship (as a job loss justification) ?

Any advice from someone who has been in this situation would be helpful.

"I want to quickly get my passport so I can get out of here" doesn't exactly sound like a wise thing to ask.

I was wondering what scenario is a job loss fall under the urgent processing category, especially for so many unemployed on this side due to the oil crisis.

"Many" may want to know that the unemployment rate has never been as low in the last 40 years.

Anyway, and in all seriousness, you're obviously entitled to go wherever you want, but asking IRCC to speed up the process because you want a job elsewhere was ground for citizenship application refusal 1.5 years ago, and will be either ignored by the agent working on your application (best case scenario), or an invitation to look more thoroughly at your residence claims, causing possible delays... You never know...

If you're applying for a job in the Canadian military or RCMP, which requires citizenship, that might qualify. I heard someone on this forum applying for a RCMP job got urgent processing approved in a few months.

Yes, including other government jobs like working for a Canadian consulate abroad, etc.

The kind of job that’s inside Canada
It can be a job outside Canada in some cases. Examples would be working for the federal government in a Canadian embassy abroad.

I have exactly the same situation as you. Got my job offer Feb 2018, citizenship application sent Feb 2018, still waiting for test invite.

It would probably be easier if your company has office in Canada and you can work there for a year then go with L visa, no need to use Canadian citizenship to get TN

it is a one of a tech giant at west coast. and yes it does have a office at Vancouver and they did ask me if I want to go for the L1 option. I said nah I will just wait for my citizenship to be approved then go to US directly... worst choice of my life.

So you ended up not taking the job?
