So I've received awful news regarding a loved one in Ireland who has falling ill.I really need to return home to Ireland to spend some time with this person but I'm in the middle of PR application.
I applied through ee under cec stream with 600 pts from lmia.my application is still being processed but I dont want to stay here another 4 months waiting for PR and possibly miss this persons last few weeks and funeral.I know my job won't give me time off as I've already took three weeks holidays earlier in the year,I don't even want to ask them.
I'd be willing to lose my job and remain in Ireland for couple of months if I thought it wouldn't affect my PR application.
I have read elsewhere that once cec applicants have received Aor they don't need to worry about losing lmia pts or being rejected because of loss of job as their eligibility is locked in based on time of applying ,In which case I could go home for couple months and wait for PR.
Does anybody know if this is true??
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that. Yes you are right, once you fill in your CEC application and you pass the eligibility stage you are good to go. CEC is all about your past experience not your current. So you're good to go. But if I were you I would leave the company on good terms. I'm sure they won't give you any time off, as you mentioned, but you can always ask if circumstances meet in future you can come back and if they are willing to take you back after couple of months of absence.

Anyways hope everything goes smooth, just remember to update your address once you get to Ireland.

Best of luck,

Good comment on leaving on good terms.
CIC may ask you to provide further documents regarding your work experience,
so I'd make sure to leave the company smiling.

Good luck

I am sorry to hear about your loved one, this is a truly difficult situation.

While that is true about the CEC application, the 600 pts for the valid job offer is about the EE application (different), and you are required to keep the job/offer to to keep the 600 pts. If you no longer have a valid permanent job offer, you lose the 600 pts and (most likely) your eligibility

My suggestion would be to request an unpaid leave of absence. I know you don't want to "push" your employer any further, but (I think, not 100% sure) if you still have a permanent job offer to come back to, you will be able to keep your pts.

I don't know about the odds of the VO actually checking to see about your job, but you are obligated to inform CIC if you have a change of address, and that would certainly raise questions.

But if you have to make a choice, spending time with your loved one is more important, and you would probably be able to find another way back to Canada...

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/mi/express-entry.asp

"Loss of offer of arranged employment

(2) If the offer referred to in subsection (1) is revoked or ceases to be a qualifying offer of arranged employment, the foreign national is no longer entitled to the 600 points under subsection (1) in respect of that offer and their the total number of points assigned to the foreign national under the Comprehensive Ranking System is to be adjusted accordingly."
