Urgent, need advice, really worried

My situation is that I was short of the residency obligation a couple months. I told this information to the secondary immigration check. The officer was great, he said because it's not a long period then he won't cancel my permit but said he will make a note of it in the system and immigration will want to talk to me when I apply for a new PR card and hopefully approve my status on H&C grounds.

I'm really worried. Can I not apply for a new PR card when my current one expires and wait until I've completed the two years? Will I still be affected by the note the officer made in the system?

I'm desperate to hear any answer. I really don't won't to go through a process where there might be a negative outcome.

1. PR Card is meant to be a status document for travel purposes although function creep means that many organizations and government departments ask for it as the only acceptable proof of PR Status.

2. You can survive without the PR Card inside Canada. Wait until you meet the residence obligation = 730 days before you apply even if your PR Card expires before then.

3. Many shortfall applicants that go for the H&C route mistakenly believe their H&C reasons are compelling for personal reasons rather than reviewing them against extensive case law..for example multiple posters here think not finding a job in Canada is a justifiable reason for being absent...its not!

Don't sweat it if you won't go for H&C for the shortfall. Count your days carefully though and keep a solid record/evidence of your travel in the relevant 5 year period. I suggest apply with a buffer of at least 20 days to the 730 days.

If he didn't officially report you on entry, immigration can not go back and report you after you already have 730 days, regardless of any notes made in their system.
