Urgent Help Regarding COPR

I need urgent help regarding COPR. I have sponsored my dependent child and we received the COPR. ALL the information on COPR and Visa for the principal applicant (dependent child) including DOB, name, etc. is correct.

However under the sponsor information on COPR my relationship to her is mentioned as "spouse" which is not correct.

1. Shall we move ahead with landing or this needs to be corrected? Will this create problem at later stage?
2. Shall I clarify this with local visa office using case specific form? What is the time involved in changing the COPR if this needs to change at all?

Please suggest the way forward. We are almost on booking the tickets to Canada.

Thanks in Advance.

You should find out the telephone number of your local visa office and call them up. That way you would immediately know exactly what to do. Alternatively, upon landing, the immigration officials have the option to correct any discrepancies. But it is best to call the visa office as the first option.

Thanks sakamath. I appreciate the reply.

But are you sure upon landing immigration officials have option to correct any dicrepencies?

Could you please provide any reference to this? becuase the main information of the principal applicant is correct.

Unfortunately, Local Visa Office in New Delhi has no phone number. They entertain the replies only through FAX, Email (case specific question) and letter.

In fact, errors on the COPR are so common there is a form one completes at the POE to indicate the appropriate corrections:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/amend.asp

I suspect you won't hear anything back from the visa office, in which case you should attempt to have it corrected at the POE - the decision to issue the COPR wasn't wrong, just coding of information on the COPR, which should not materially impact the ability to land with it.

Good luck!
