Hello Guys,

I've my GCMS notes from last visa refusal. I've all documents ready now to submit online. But before I do please advise if you have any suggestions from the gcms notes below:
33—yr old male Bangladeshi, Married on 03 May 2018. Wife not accompanying. LOA: York Uni-1-yr post grad cert in Digital & content marketing. Currently works as Digital marketing consultant. Declares he was refused USA visa in 2013. Funds: App is matured married adult in his early thirties, yet provided no personal funds. Stated funds from father. Family savings certificates provided but sources now show moderated fund balance & negative investment returns. I have considered app’s career history, personal circumstances and family composition, the expenses related to proposed study and reasonableness of undertaking these studies in Canada. After careful consideration of the info provided, I’m not satisfied that proposed studies in Canada makes sense given insufficient information on how proposed studies would improve career prospects to a degree that would offset the costs of studying in Cda instead of pursuing programs available in country of residence. Based on info on file, I’m not satisfied that proposed studies from part of a logical, consistent study path and that the benefits to apps career prospects outweigh the considerable expenses of undertaking program in Canada. Refused. 216 (1) (b).
My brief present profile:

* Self + father accumulated: $93,000 available presently.
* Applied without IELTS (My bachelor degree from English speaking country: UK so York Uni waived off my IELTS)
* I've a new baby born last year (during 1st time application I had no baby)
* During last application I was employed. Since then I left the job and started my own business
* Tuition paid $4559 upfront (as requested by the uni) I never took the money return from the uni. The program I applied have only Fall session so I waited one long year.

By the mean time I almost wrote a 3 page explanations with previous refusal and present circumstances. If anyone have any advise/suggestion please reply ASAP. I will be submitting maximum by tomorrow.

Looking for your expert opinions.

Thanks.

The visa officer does not believe you have the financial capacity to pursue your studies in Canada. And the visa officer does not believe your purpose of visit is genuine.

Key information
provided no personal funds.Stated funds from father.
- Visa officer thinks that your financial situation is pretty bad. You dont have significant income or savings or assets. The money is available in your account is your parents and at this age you still depending on them.

I’m not satisfied that proposed studies in Canada makes sense given insufficient information on how proposed studies would improve career prospects to a degree that would offset the costs of studying in Cda instead of pursuing programs available in country of residence.
- He thinks that you spending huge sum of money to take course and failed to provide him details how it will open more opportunities for you considering the high amount your paying for it. you could take this course in your home country which will be a lot cheaper.

I’m not satisfied that proposed studies from part of a logical, consistent study path and that the benefits to apps career prospects outweigh the considerable expenses of undertaking program in Canada.
- for the amount of money yoy will spend on your education and living in Canada will not be worth the value you get in return.

The visa officer doesn't see the logic in you traveling halfway across the world to a very high cost of living country, spend thousands of dollars on a certificate, for your career. So it's not believable that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay.

If you want an education, you can find cheaper and better value studies in your home country.

You applying for a certificate program in Canada shows you're not a genuine student. It doesn't seem you want an education at all.

It doesn't make sense for you to be coming all the way over here just for a 1 year certificate. This makes it seem like you're not a genuine student. A Masters would make a lot more sense.

I have now two sop. One for the last application (2 pages) and new revised SOP (2 page) . Also A new explanation letter in 3 pages. Which one you prefer to see.

However, I'm uploading here the new SOP.

Studying is not only the matter of acquiring knowledge but also applying it to real-world life. Application of the piece of knowledge to the related field makes the learning worthy. Education is the only means which is enough to make a nation be able to fight against any type of discrepancies and adversities. For that reason, I’ve been searching a suitable program that fits my career goal. And I’m very delighted I’ve been offered a place to study Postgraduate Certificate in Digital & Content Marketing at York University based on my academic qualifications, professional experiences and language abilities.

It is obvious that Canada has one of the greatest education systems in the world. There’s no doubt about their education quality and living standard. Having a study abroad experience in the UK persuade me again for further higher studies in abroad. It just because I know it’s significant impact of foreign degrees to people’s life. York University is very reputed and well ranked. School of Continuing Studies of York University have some unique courses to expand career focused qualifications for professionals like me.

Digital and Content marketing one of the course that fascinates me always. This digital media and technology sector has a huge influence in my lifestyle as well. From personal to professional life I always use and adapt the best of the technologies.

The course benefits me understanding from increasing the quantity and quality of traffic for website by using digital marketing channels and advertising tools (e.g. SEO, SEM, social media, display etc). It also explores best practise for CRM marketing automation to enhance meaningful communication and engage with customers. Digital marketing allows to make data driven decision across all digital platforms by using metric reporting and measurement to guide it’s marketing strategy. Whether you want to be a SEO specialist, Digital marketing manager, copywriter, Web analysts or even an entrepreneur this degree prepares all kind of professionals. The ultimate learning outcome for the course is to secure key cross-functional skills in analytical and critical thinking, emotional and Social Intelligence, consumer behaviour, data analysis, logic and problem solving.

The most important part of this degree is the advisory council and instructors of this course. Instructors like Carrie Lysencko, has led Canada’s most beloved sites and apps ‘The Weather Network’. Ian Martins the COO at Abacus is very well know for driving measurable results for his clients. Justin da Rose has been described as a storyteller. He’s the pillar of content writer Ratehub.ca. Rachel Surman is a Senior Content Marketing specialists at Borrowell – one of Canada’s largest financial technology companies. There are few other instructors like them. They are just not the instructor; they are leading the industry of Digital media marketing in Canada. Meaning they’ve the right expertise, leading the social age and influencing Canada’s digitalization. Learning from them doesn’t mean I just get academic knowledge’s only but also the experience they will be sharing is more valuable than the course itself. They bring value, experience and motivation. With the dream of being entrepreneur I’m thrilled to have them as my mentor.

Digital and creative marketing such a new era of marketing and communications for Bangladesh. Bangladesh has just started knowing the benefits of technological revolution. Literally, there’s no institutes in Bangladesh who provides graduate level digital marketing qualifications rather than traditional marketing program. Digital marketing professionals required constant training and facilities in order to be on the top of their knowledge. Those trainings also required updated and advanced curriculum to facilitate marketing and sales professionals. There’s no such program offering in Bangladesh which is government approved, recognised, or have any accreditation.

Where other part of the world advanced a lot in terms of IT, Bangladesh remains at the bottom to produce IT professionals. However, government has taken various initiatives program like A2I (Access to Information), iDEA, StartupBangladesh etc. Government has plan to become a Digital Bangladesh by 2021 where lots of IT professionals are required. Various start-up projects have been launched with government and private initiatives for new entrepreneurs in the ICT sector.

Although I’ve something different in my mind. Rather than seeking for employment I would like to build my own start-up in digital marketing industry. There are many IT companies in Bangladesh but very few of them able to provides digital marketing solutions. Who can deliver quality service and provide customised digital marketing solutions. This is where I focus on building my own marketing agency and someday that should become a brand. Besides, this degree will boost my confidence to begin my start-up. I’ve got diverse professional working experience from UK and Bangladesh. And once I get qualified in Digital and content marketing I will have the solid foundations to run my start-up.

I came from a very respected family and my parents are retired now. I’m independently living with my wife and son in Dhaka. I got married in 2018 and now I’ve a wonderful baby boy (9 months). I’ll be leaving my wife, son and parents who are the dearest to me. My wife will be joining my business during my studies in Canada and as soon as I return I intend to start-up my dream project called “_______”. Creating my own digital marketing consultancy firm besides my existing business (which I believe my wife will continue eventually).

In conclusion, I would like you to consider my application carefully and approve study permit in Canada for my proposed program. I also confirm after finishing my studies successfully I will be coming back to my families and my country.

Bro, to be honest with you this new SOP is quite boring and not convincing at all. Too much general and unrelated information is provided. I dont think visa officer cares about introduction of education and how it changes the world. You need to rewrite the SOP stating the point that were in GCMS notes and convincing the officer why this study is important for you how it will change your life, your future and your career. Why you choose canada instead of your home country. And show more assests on your name explaning your financial situation and home ties.

Appreciate your feedback. I will work in it. Anyway I'm uploading the Explanation/justifications for you now. Let me know your feedback about this explanations:

Explanations of your concerns:
I’m at my early thirties and yet planned for study abroad again just because I believe learning has no limits as long as I’ve the opportunity and capacity of doing that. I remember when I was doing my Bachelor degree in London I had a class mate from Macedonia; she started her undergraduate degree at the age of 44. That has been an inspiration for me always. Besides my family never discouraged me for it. In fact, they wanted me to do an MBA but I’ve chosen an area more career oriented where I’ve serious interests.

You’ve mentioned “matured adult yet provided no personal funds”; Actually, I did attach my personal ‘The City Bank’ a/c: ********* statement where I had savings of 432,515.78 BDT ($6,758.05) and I also paid my initial tuition deposit (S4559.00) from my personal funds. I’m not sure if you didn’t consider my personal savings of CAD $6,758.05 at all. Besides, I’d also declared I have a property ‘Apartment’ which I purchased with my all savings just after returning from the UK. At the age of 34 I’ve my own apartment where I’ve invested my large amount of money. I also got married in the next year where I had to spend a significant amount of money as well. So I guess now you would definitely understand where all my savings remains.

This is the only reason I had to take help from my parents. They are always willing to provide any kind of support I need (fathers accumulated funds shown $40,200 last time).

You’ve also mentioned moderate fund balance and negative investment returns. My father Share a/c 149 with ICB Capital return on investment (ROI) was negative for sure ($3,284.63 only). Sanchaypatra Savings certificate has (value $31,250.00) no negative ROI. Savings certificate (sanchaypatra) has a fixed regular interest from the government and the interest rate doesn’t fluctuate with Govt. Share Certificate.

You’d a great concern why I’m studying this course, how it will help me developing my career

In my last statement of purpose, I mentioned “I’m a marketing professionals and my last job also in this field. I’ve also mentioned rather than looking for a job my ultimate goal is to establish a digital marketing agency.” So without having a proper skills and knowledge it is not wise to invest a lot of time and money for a new venture. On the other hand, this is one of the course which changes very constantly e.g Google Panda 2.0 (SEO analogy, SEM, PPC, Ranking algorithm, tools, trends). This is where I need to learn how to make strategies, follow trends, techniques, tools, financial budgets etc.

My desire to study and run a business in digital consultancy is not new. I didn’t suddenly come up with this idea. I’ve a proven track record of involvement in this sector. If you’ve looked at my C.V you’d see I’ve been involved in this sector for long. I was a member of London Blog Club, founding member of “Blog & Social Media Club” at Ulster University and even run Social media platform for UK universities (volunteer).

The program I chose at York University is basically for the professionals like me. It’s not a traditional postgraduate program rather it’s a continues career development program for industry professionals. You may not have noticed my program is under “School of Continuing Studies” at York University. The School of Continuing Studies at York University offers a constantly evolving roster of continuing education programs, designed to help reaching goals (whatever they may be). Their unique cohort program structure goes above and beyond the usual continuing education experience, offering to students: Faster completion times, flexible study formats and opportunities to develop the cross-functional skills.

And why not studying this course in home country where I could spend less money and get the degree.

“Literally, there’s no institutes (public or private university) till to date in Bangladesh who provides digital marketing qualifications rather than traditional marketing program. Digital marketing professionals required constant training and facilities in order to be on the top of their knowledge. Those trainings also required updated and advanced curriculum to facilitate marketing and sales professionals. There’s no such program offering in Bangladesh which is government approved, recognised, or have any accreditation.” This is exactly I wrote in my last study plan and I still stand for this statement.

Present circumstances and future planning:

Since my last job at ‘Frontic Leads’ I moved on and started education consultancy business called “Visa Hub BD” (a.k.a Graduate Track) for better financial prospects. And honestly this is working better than the job I used to do because I did work in the UK in higher education sector (student recruitment and marketing) in the past, so using that experience I thought this will be better career options for me in terms of financially stability at this moment.

Besides being a small business owner my realization and understanding about importance of Digital marketing skills is now even more significant. My last two visits at Beijing (ICEF Asia Seminar) and Delhi (ApplyBoard Top Recruiters) events taught me the importance of Digital footprint in the 21st century. Having an agency will not make you stand in the crowd. IDP, Mentors, PFEC Global all the top level educational consultant’s in Bangladesh and they’ve significant amount of investment in Digital & content marketing to compete. Business development, making strategy, analysis, financial planning all these are now heavily involved with digital skills in the area of SMM, SEO, PPC, CRM and Affiliate marketing.

I need a qualification for more depth skills and knowledge in digital sector to run my startup. I consider my self as an entrepreneur and a creative person. Establishing and running a well reputed Digital marketing consultancy is my ultimate goal and ambition. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, today or tomorrow but I’m committed, determined and persuasive to see the light of my success in this industry. This has been my dream project for so long. I could’ve start this project by now but before that I always wanted to get a professional qualification from industry professionals so that I don’t get stuck or stumble.

Postgraduate Certificate in Digital & Content marketing at York University has only Fall session. I’ve waited a year just to reapply and study this program to this university only. Because of the advisory board members, instructors, value of the course and the reputed York University. Each of them bring remarkable value to the course.

Last but not least, I’ve explained all the matters and I would like you to review my application. I hope I’m able to satisfy you this time with explanations and documentations. If you require anything else, please feel free to contact me.
I appreciate your feedback.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not accompanying my family at all. I don't want to do any other course except this course. I don't want to spend money on wasting doing MBA frankly speaking. I believe only this course will help me academically and skill wise.

Here it comes. The first SOP I wrote and got rejection. Please check.

Letter of Intent to study Digital & Content Marketing

“Marketing’s job is never done. It’s about perpetual motion. We must continue to innovate every day.” – Beth Comstock. This is where I get inspired to learn more and being creative to keep myself updated in the marketing trend. The above statement may already have realised you are with a marketing professionals. It is my pleasure to introduce myself as a huge digital marketing and innovation enthusiasts. For that reason, I’ve been searching a suitable program that fits my career goal. And I’m very delighted to inform I’ve been offered a place to study Postgraduate Certificate in Digital & Content Marketing unconditionally at York University in Canada based on my academic and relevant work experiences. This the is exact program that suits my needs in terms of level of program and duration.

Why Study in Canada:

It is obvious that Canada has one of the greatest education systems in the world. There’s no doubt about their education quality and living standard. Having a study abroad experience in the UK persuade me for further higher education in abroad. I had the intention to study abroad only if I find relevant program that suits my interests and needs. So I found York University offering the exact short of postgraduate program. Also the university ranking has hugely influenced to proceed it further once I’ve been offered a place to study. Canada allow to explore entire new education system, experience completely different new society, culture, diversity etc. Canada offers very affordable living expense for international students specially comparing to the UK where I’ve studied in the past. I also love to experience new country as my study destinations.

Why studying Digital Marketing at York University?

Technology is integrated into our lives more than ever before. We own smartphones, conversational AI devices such as Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple Siri, laptops and tablets. With so many people online, its essential for businesses to be online as well. As our online presence continues to grow the way we make online purchases will continue to evolve. Digital marketing is very significant because more and more customer is online; digital marketing is an immediate way to reach them. Traditional marketing can no longer reach people quite like digital marketing. Almost half of marketing jobs require digital skills, employers are having trouble finding qualified digital marketing professionals to join their teams. So wherever we go these days Digital Marketing professionals have similar demand like a coder.

An opportunity to study in worlds top 500 QS ranked university will have thrilled anyone undoubtedly. York ranked #26 globally and #5 in Canada at Times Higher Education (THE) University impact rankings. It is an honour to get accepted at York University and study my desired area of my expertise. Today's professional landscape demands more from us than ever. York will provide real-world projects to upgrade core job skills and accelerated program finished just in 8 months. Also program designed with industry leaders and advisory board members are top executives in Global Digital marketing industry.

Why I’m not pursuing this program in Bangladesh?

Digital and creative marketing such a new era of marketing and sells. Bangladesh has just started knowing the benefits of technological revolution. Government and private sector specially has huge demand for digital marketing specialists but there’s huge lack of skilled labour.

There’s no such program offering in Bangladesh which is government approved, recognised, or any accreditation.

Employment prospects in Bangladesh:

Where other part of the world advanced a lot in terms of IT, Bangladesh remains at the bottom to produce IT professionals. However, government has taken various initiatives program like A2I (Access to Information Project), iDEA etc. Government has plan to become a Digital Bangladesh by 2021 where lots of IT professionals are required. Various start-up projects have been launched with government and private initiatives for new entrepreneurs in the ICT sector.

Many jobs are expected to be created in the digital marketing space within a couple of years as more companies tap the internet and the social media platforms to bolster business. Bangladesh is emerging as a digital outsourcing hub for diverse services including online advertising, social media, website design and development. Rising demand is also spurred by increased use of the internet and mobile phones besides fast growing e-commerce businesses. With the launch of 4G in Bangladesh, the possibilities of the digital marketing have taken a new direction.

In recent years, employment in digital marketing has grown up to 52 percent according to a survey report. Even many digital marketing professionals are earning foreign currencies as independent freelancers. However, the availability of talent is less than demand. Almost every single brand has put in place a digital marketing strategy and is struggling to hire people to execute the same.

Although I’ve something different in my mind. Rather than seeking for job I would like to create my own start-up based on my skills and knowledge in the sector. There are so many IT companies in Bangladesh but very few digital marketing agencies who can deliver quality leads and provide customised digital media solutions to their clients. This is where I focus on building my own digital marketing agency.

Family Background & Ties:

I came from a very respected family and my parents are retired now. I’ve three elder sisters all married and living independently with their own families. I’m the only son of my parents and traditionally son’s carry their family legacy. I’ve planned for very short program to study Canada. So then I can come back quickly to look after my families and properties. Specially our agricultural lands required to manage with the farmers once or twice yearly. My father is not in that position physically to care everything at this age.

I got married last year and expecting my first baby coming on October this year. It is very difficult to chose study rather than staying with my wife and enjoy being a father. If my application gets approved I’ve to leave before my baby born but I’m very lucky that my wife supporting and inspiring to move on with this so that I can achieve my goals. While I study in Canada my wife and unborn child will be staying with my father-in-laws family. Socially and financially I’ve very strong ties in Bangladesh.

In conclusion, I would like you to consider my application carefully and approve study permit in Canada for my proposed program. I also confirm after finishing my studies successfully I will be coming back to my families and my country.

Respectfully,

Appreciate your feedback. I will work in it. Anyway I'm uploading the Explanation/justifications for you now. Let me know your feedback about this explanations:

I appreciate your feedback.
So I guess now you would definitely understand where all my savings remains.

You definitely do not have enough money. Have you researched on what it actually costs to live and study on Canada? And besides, you having the need to borrow money shows you do not have the financial capacity to study in Canada.

Your SOP is also very generic and doesn't say much or convincing at all.

The visa officer don't really have the time to read everyone's sop. Your documents shows clearly that tyou are not a genuine student with intentions to study nor have the financial capacity to do so.
