Hello, I am an internaitonal student from China but I am currently studying in United States. By checking online it is said that I do need a temporary resident visa to enter Canada. I wonder whether a "(TRV)temporary resident visa" is exactly a visitor's visa? But when I choose to apply for a visitor's visa it brings me to the page I applied for "study permit" again (after a bunch of questionnaires). It is confusing that I think study permit is not something you can apply online -- I suppose it is the one you will obtain while you go through the canada custom. So please help? By applying through myCIC for a study permit does that actually means a TRV? If not how should I get a TRV quickly?

ru going to canada as an international student or as a visitor? ur status in US does not matter when u select the questioner ur a visitor and not an international student in canada .TRV is a visa to enter canada and at POE u will get a permit either a study or visitors etc depending on what application u have filled. I am guessing but u must be selecting international student in the myCIC which is ur status in US and not in canada u need to select what ur in canada .

Actually after a short questionnaire I see results:
"Students (Study permit- outside of Canada, no work permit)
You may be eligible to come to Canada as a student." And I clicked next finishing the application.
Now do I have to apply for TRV separate from this?
Thank you.
