I'm a little bit confused about where I need to send my passport since I have had the PPR through email, doing the outland spousal application.

Do I need to send my original passport to the VAC in London? Do I need to send copies? I use MyCIC and have an ETA. I would just like some confirmation thanks.

STEP 4: SUBMIT YOUR DOCUMENTS

All required documents must be submitted in one single package.

1. To submit your package to London:

· For citizens of a country required to obtain a visa to Canada - Via the Visa Application Centre (VAC) in London

Please visit the VAC website for details on how to submit your package for secure transmission and for issuance of the permanent resident visa(s). (*Please note fees apply) http://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/UnitedKingdom/index.html.

· For citizens not using MyCIC and of a country that is exempt from obtaining a visa to Canada – Via courier or mail directly to the London office.

Mail or courier your package to:

VPU Processing (LDN)
Immigration Division - Canadian High Commission
Canada House
Trafalgar Square
London, SW1Y 5BJ
United Kingdom

In your package, include a self-addressed envelope that is A4 size or larger (21cm x 30cm or 8.5” x 12”). Do not put stamps on your return envelope. Do not use a courier envelope as your return envelope. If your return address is in the UK, you may use a Royal Mail Special Delivery envelope that is large enough (keep a copy of the tracking number). For packages signed for on receipt at the High Commission, you may be able to track receipt via the website of the courier company.

· For citizens using MyCIC AND from a country that is exempt from obtaining a visa to Canada –

Please mail/courier only your photos (see ‘STEP 3: PREPARE YOUR DOCUMENTS’ above). All other information must be uploaded to your MyCIC account.

You should expect to be without your passport(s) for four weeks, so do not arrange any travel that will require your passport(s) during this period.

If you have not heard from us after four weeks, you may contact us using the email form on our website. We will not respond to queries received during this four week period.

Re: British Citizen 2017 -PPR request where to send passport?

Another example of CIC at its best in an effort to muddle up the process.

They could've been clearer in "For citizens of a country required to obtain a visa to Canada"
- which visa? Permanent resident visa? Business visa? Visitor? Diplomatic?

The answer is they imply Visitor visa here.

What about those that do not need a visitor visa, and do use MyCIC? There's no such category in the letter.

In your specific case - check MyCIC, under submitted applications, view application, there might be an upload form for you passport copy.

There's no upload section for me to do my passport, I've checked in MyCIC account. Can someone else help me please? I'm really freaking out about this. :(

What did you do in the end? I just got this letter through today. I figure the safest option is to send physical copies as I cannot upload anything online and I assume that by saying to upload the information they actually mean the information that I have already uploaded as part of the process (passport photocopies were part of the submission).

You've misunderstood. British citizens (like OP) do not require visas to go to Canada. The instruction is very clear, but could be confusing to people who don't realise that citizens of some countries require visas, and citizens of other countries do not.

STEP 3: PREPARE YOUR DOCUMENTS
You must submit together:
1. One copy of this letter, including the Updated Information Chart in Appendix A.
Note: Visa exempt applicants using MyCIC are not required to submit a physical copy –
please upload this information to your MyCIC account.
2. Passport(s) OR photocopy(ies) of passport(s), as explained in Step 2.
Note: Visa exempt applicants using MyCIC are not required to submit a physical copy –
please upload this information to your MyCIC account.
3. Two (2) photos of yourself and of each accompanying family member respecting
precise specifications that can be found at:

What is not clear is that I cannot upload anything after receiving my PPR. However all of this was added when we originally submitted so I ASSUME they will just use that.

You have misunderstood the main point that in the OP's letter there is no 3rd category for those those that do not need a visitor visa, and do use MyCIC

You mean the third category listed in the post?

"For citizens using MyCIC AND from a country that is exempt from obtaining a visa to Canada"

Not that that's relevant to the bit you misunderstood, which was that British citizens don't need visas. Your comment "- which visa? Permanent resident visa? Business visa? Visitor? Diplomatic? The answer is they imply Visitor visa here.". No visa at all. British citizens and Canadian visas simply aren't a thing. We can't get them, because we don't need them. That isn't the case for citizens from some other countries, who can get, and need to have visas to travel to Canada.

- Send in a copy of your passport, they DO NOT require the original passport because British Citizens are visa-exempt.

- Also include 2 passport photos, one photo has to be signed at the back by a photographer and have them put the address of the place down on it. Make sure you put your name and application number down on both photos.

You'll find CIC's photo specifications here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/5445EB-e.pdf

- Send the copy of the passport, passport photos and copy of the letter in the mail to the address below. (I would recommend put some sort of tracking on it, just to give you that peace of mind.)

- Send the package to this address:

VPU Processing (LDN)
Immigration Division - Canadian High Commission
Canada House
Trafalgar Square
London, SW1Y 5BJ
United Kingdom

UPLOADING DOCUMENTS ONLINE WHEN MYCIC WILL NOT WORK:

When CIC asks you to upload a copy of your passport and that PPR letter. If it will not let you upload it onto MyCIC, then you can attach copies in a message and send it to them directly. It worked for me because my application was approved.

You write a message to them then send the documents via their web form: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp

Hi,

I've just had the same issue so I sent everything required to the above address in London. Can I ask how long it takes to hear back from them?

Thank you.
