Hi,
so I am preparing all my documentation, and under the document check list I read this "up to date" letter of reference from the employers for the last 3 years. What does it mean "up to date"? I assume it means "most recent", or smth like that. So my last 1.5 years of Canadian experience was at the same employer (that I keep working for), but ~2011 would cover my employer in Spain (I lived there before coming to Canada) , and I left that company (in a good terms) just before coming to Canada, I asked my boss to sign me the reference letter. The reference letter has all information CIC is asking. But now my question is about the date. The letter is dated beginning of 2012, just before I came to Canada. Do I need to ask him to sign me a letter dated "November 2013" or smth like that? But that doesn't make sense, honestly. I never returned to Spain, I have his reference letter signed the last day of my work, that's it. What is the difference between reference dated January 2012 and recent date, say November 2013, especially if you left the country? Now I would have to search for my employer, what if he says, I signed it for you when you left, what else do you want??
Do you think I should consider contacting my previous employer to sign the same letter but with the current date, or I should just submit the letter of reference the one I have to CIC and to add some explanation note that my Spanish employer signed me on my last day of my work, and shortly I left the country.
Thanks for any advise.
