up-to-date file information inquiry

Hello,
Does anyone know of a number to call from within Canada where I might find out up-to-date information on a file in processing abroad?

I have gotten my MP's office to inquire for me before but this time I would like to myself. It seems logical that I should be able to access the same information. At least, I sure hope so.

Hi Inlimbo, you need to contact the embassy directly. On CIC's website it states that the call centre in Mississauga do not have access to information within files transferred to embassies. This link may help you. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/index.asp#callcentre
