So my Spouse and I were going through the paperwork, we had just now recently seen a part where it states," Please provide up to a maximum of 20 photos of you and your partner at different times and places."
Is this new?
Before I had seen the more the better...
There are so many pictures of us as a couple and then so many more showing proof that we're active in one another's lives like family events and what not.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

The advice you were given should always have been quality over quantity. The maximum of 20 is a new rule from CIC to try to enforce that. Pick the best 20 over a long period of time showing you doing different things in different settings together.

Even if you send even more they are gonna trash it.
That's what they do. As the bcbound said quality is more important.
When you sent only what they asked for it increasessthe efficiency of work because they don't have to process unwanted stuff.

Immigration officers need to go through thousands of applications and follow a specific protocol to process them. I believe some people were sending way too much information to prove their relationship was genuine, creating office clutter and slowing down processing.

Thank you all so much for your help!
Also a side question;
When giving employment dates, if we're still working at the same place to present day. do we just write in the day we filled out the application?
Cause the format kinda forces you to do that.

What about evidence, such as social media chats, Christmas/Birthday cards between eachother, marriage cards from family members? How many pieces are we allowed? I dug up about 10 pictures from our wedding and wrote on the back of each explaining what it is, who's in the picture, and the date it was taken. I then found 10 more of us throughout the years and wrote on the back with the same information. I also provided a boarding pass, tickets to a show we went to on our wedding trip, and wrote on the back of the photocopy explaining what each piece is of.

Also, we have signed and notarized letters from parents, sibling, and a close friend stating our relationship is true and valid. How many of these are we allowed? We have 4 different letters from a total of 6 people (parents of each of us wrote one letter each with both their names).

Lastly, I have evidence of my wife as my beneficiary on my 401k Retirement and Stock account.

We do not share any bills or property since we do not live together and just got married in October. We have dated since 2012 (known each other since 2011).

Do you think this should be enough evidence? Of course we included our marriage certificate (we got extra copies made so we're sending them sealed copy from the marriage license office). We both live close to each other and cross the border between the US and Canada to see each other weekly.

Once you print it off just handwrite present in the box

I also had this question. Employment dates on the Applicant's application (Schedule A) lets you click a box that says "Ongoing" - but the one for the sponsor just lists the dates. Should we leave the end-date blank and write "present" or write "2016-16" and under it write "Present"?

Thanks

The burden of proof is lower for married people and especially when it is an American-Canadian relationship. So what you have will do.

Do we write the Year/Month and write under, "Present" - or leave it blank and just hand-write in the word "Present"? I know they can be picky so I want to make sure all the paperwork is exactly how they want it.

Leave it blank and write in present. They see this all the time and know the struggle you are having.

pick pictures of your wedding with guests and family, engagement, honeymoon, couple pictures doing activities/eating with extended families, and if you have childrens include a picture of them with you too.

Try to space out your pictures (time wise) picking from when you first met to the latest pictures. They want to see stages of your relationship development. So for example pick a picture from early 2016 than pick a picture from mid 2016. Don't pick pictures just because you look great in them as a couple. Pick pictures that have meanings, that tell a story of your relationship. Keep in mind pictures are proof of your relationship to the visa officer viewing them.

I printed them out in 4R sized photo quality glossy paper and wrote PA's name, DOB and brief context using pen on the back of each photo

However you want. I did mine in Word on normal paper and typed in descriptions.
