Unused VISA duration 6 months?

My VISA is now in process, and my target date of travel is on May. However, there's an emergency wherein I cannot travel on May and I am planning to move it to december.

I read somewhere about a "6-month" rule.

Can you shed some light on this matter?

My visa was issued last year and I have not even used it until this date..(due to medical reason of family member)...it will expire next year...

I dont think there's such a 6 month rule..you can use it until the very last day of its expiration....

I forgot the exact URL where I read it. I read it in a forum or blog.

Its not official but just a statement coming from another visitor.
