Hello, :D

I recently managed to secure an unpaid internship with a gold mine in Canada. I am required to secure one as part of my university degree here in the UK. I am a british citizen. I am a bit stuck as to how to go about getting a work permit to go to Canada. I have been browsing the CIC website all day trying to find the information I need, but I still have a few questions.

Will the company that is hiring me require a LMO? I rang them up and asked for an internship, they were not looking for anyone, I created this opportunity.

I see that the process for the work permit takes approximatly 2 months for UK citizens. Is there any way to fast track this (apart from providing an accurate and detailed application).

I am unsure as to whether I will have to apply for a study permit as well, as this opportunity is in no way involved with any institution in Canada.

The problem is that I need to start ASAP also... :-X

Thanks in advance!

1. The employer needs to get an approved LMO, which won't be easy.
2. Then you require a work permit.
3. As the LMO takes 6=16 weeks for approval, I wouldn't count on starting ASAP.

ah, oh well. Appreciate the quick reply none the less! Looks like my intenrship hunt will have to continue in the UK :p
