Hi all,

I was confused if its absolutely necessary to have a GIC certificate for the university checklist even though its mentioned 'strongly recommended'. I have received sufficient funding from the University for the Master's program and in addition to that I have attached my bank statements, FD certificate, and property proofs.

I was wondering if not having a GIC certificate will actually hinder my application process? As such, I have concrete proof of University Funding and other supporting documents. I applied under the University checklist rather than General.

(Master's at University of Calgary)

If you can show sufficient amount and constant income of bank statement then it will be okay. GIC is not a must in University category.

Agree with Dipta. GIC is a strongly recommended and not a "must". I also didn't have GIC nor did I apply for an education loan. If you have shown enough liquid funds then you are good to go. All the Best.
