Hello,

I am a Canadian citizen living abroad and traveling. I have been living in Europe for the past eight months, and would like to send some goods back to Canada. I will now be traveling in Asia, probably for another six months at least before returning to Canada. My question is, what paperwork should I include with my goods, and will I have to pay duties? It is mostly just the stuff I left Canada with, with the exception of a few new acquisitions, but well under the $800 limit.

Most of the other forums discuss unaccompanied goods that arrive after the traveler, but in this case, I need them to go back before me.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hayden

You'd better talk to CBSA. You don't seem to be covered by the Returning Resident exemption, and you are not bringing in the goods with you in person, to invoke the $800 exemption. So, you appear to be just an importer, with full liability for duty & taxes.

Thanks! I'll give them a call.
