Hi this is my post to this informative forum
heres my situation my Canadian wife (whos a British citizen) and children (who have dual citizenships) sponsoring me to go for PR in Canada
We have just filled out the forms and intend to go the High Commision in London shortly
so do we need to do the police certificates and are they just for me or do they have to be for the children too?
Also the medical when does this have to be done before the application or later?
can the documents be attested by a soicitor or a notary? as we are in the UK
Anyones else already completed this process
Any help would be very much appreicated
Thanks

You are the only person being sponsored so only you need to get a police certifcate. Do the medical first. Pay all the fees up front $1040 in total otherwise they will ask for it later and it will delay things.

This is important. You need to send everything to Mississauga in Canada where they will assess your wife as a sponsor. This takes around 70 days. Then the appliaction will be sent to london where they will assess your application for permanent residency.

Have you read the guides? I suggest you do that if you havent already.

You should have a document checklist which you also need to submit. Make sure you have everything on the checklist.

You do not take it to London.

No co-signer required, not mandatory.

Make sure you have the "Outland" application kit.

Hi,

you may wanna have a look at the following link

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

its a complete process where first they assess the eligibility to sponsor, in ur case its ur spouse who will be assessed in missisuaga first
as said above by pinklady it will take about 70 days and if ur spouse is approved as sponsor they will transfer your file to CHC-London for further processing.

you need to provide them with Police certificate, receipt of medical exam issued by DMP alongwith your application when you send it off to Mississauga and its better if you pay the full application fee before hand for a quick process.
you only need to provide your medical since your children are already Canadian citizen!

hope this helps!

No, and no. They will not assist you there, nor can they accept the fees, as these must be paid to the office in Canada. Pay the fees online, save yourself any hassle.

I dont think they will check it for you since there is no such facility at CHC-L (as far as I know) and there is no point of going to HC at this time, if they need you they will contact you themselves.

either you can pay your fee online or in Canada at designated places, I paid mine online from UK and had no problems, make sure you attach the receipt of payment when submitting the application this will save your application from unnecessary delay!
