Me and my wife have both gotten our MSc degrees in the UK and now we are in the process of gathering the necessary papers for EE. Here's my question: do we really need a PCC from the UK? We never spent more than 6 months in the country (started in October, left for Christmas/New year, left again for Easter holidays, came back and then left in June). So is the UK PCC really necessary in our case?

Thanks to anyone that can share some insight :)

Yes, you both would need PCC if you have a combined stay of 6 months or more in the UK.

In general, you and all the people in your family who are 18 or older need to get a police certificate. You must get one from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18. (For example, if you lived in a country for six months but left on a two-week vacation, that counts as living there for six months.)

For the country you currently live in, the police certificate must be issued no more than six months before you apply.

For countries where you have lived for six months or more, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you lived in that country.

Technically you might not need it if you've not spent more than 6 months in the UK. But I suggest you get it anyway. I've got 2 from the UK and they're pretty quick. You should get them within 2 weeks.

Yes, its necessary as everyone else posted above.

More so if you had your education in that country and then CIC might even how request a PCC from UK

UK PCC is quite simple and you can get it in 15 days. Entire process is online and no need to have current residence in UK either.

All you need to have along with complete form is a letter from your HR or accountant as an endorsement.

Good luck.

Yes still need to declare this in your PCC form. It will also be mentioned in your UK PCC when issued as No Live Trace instead of No Trace. This is relevant to any criminal offence as I read in the PCC form so any traffic violations or such should not be an issue.

That endorsement thing is what troubles me really; I got my MSc in 2003. Which means I have nobody to endorse me right now in the UK. Any idea how I should go about this? I never had an accountant there, never worked there; just got my MSc and that's it :/

Relax mate.

This endorsement does not need to be from someone in UK. It has to be from someone who has known you for more that 1 year (read FAQ's). So I have stayed in UK but I got an endorsement from my current HR manager. Sorted.

There are list of profession on this FAQ who can be your endorser.

Good luck.

+1 to Meya :)

I stand corrected that this person needs to have known you for 2 years and not 1 year as I mentioned in my previous post.

You do not need an endorser based in UK. You can ask your colleague in your current or past organization and mention his contact details in the endorsement section. Just make sure that the endorser is not your relative in any way.
